Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role reports directly to the Corporate Controller and is essential in overseeing the preparation and review of tax filings for our organization and its subsidiaries at both the state and federal levels. The Tax Manager will also play a crucial role in tax planning and savings analysis, collaborating closely with our external tax consultant to ensure compliance and efficiency in our annual and quarterly filings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external tax consultants for data collection, tax return schedule preparation, and comprehensive tax research.
  • Manage communications with the IRS and state tax examiners to ensure compliance and address any inquiries.
  • Analyze tax implications related to FAS 123®, restricted stock units, and additional stock awards.
  • Oversee tax-related journal entries and manage the 1099⁄1098 and W-9 processes.
  • Prepare and file franchise tax returns and assist with quarterly federal tax estimates.
  • Administer the monthly Sales and Use tax process and handle state tax filings.
  • Conduct or review deferred tax analysis and monitor state apportionment.
  • Support monthly and quarterly internal executive and board reporting, as well as SEC and regulatory reporting.

Required Skills

  • Strong applied understanding of federal and state tax regulations.
  • Proficient in GAAP accounting, including ASC 740 Income Tax.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Self-directed and reliable, demonstrating a strong ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly productive with a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a focus on taxation is required.
  • A minimum of five years of corporate tax preparation experience, preferably within a regional/national accounting firm or a corporate environment.
  • A licensed or registered Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
  • Experience in state, local, and federal tax preparation is highly desirable.
