Job Overview

We are actively seeking a highly experienced Corporate Assistant Controller to join our vibrant team. In this critical role, you will collaborate closely with the Corporate Controller to oversee complex accounting tasks, manage the monthly close processes, and lead year-end audits. You will play a vital role in ensuring financial regulatory compliance across our multifaceted organization, contribute to the integration of new acquisitions, and develop standard operating procedures that maintain financial precision in accordance with GAAP standards. This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will provide the opportunity to lead a team of 1-2 direct reports and 6-8 indirect reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee lease accounting for the organization, including the management of lease accounting software for the vehicle fleet and acquisitions/dispositions.
  • Assist with purchase accounting and the integration of newly acquired companies.
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) throughout the organization.
  • Manage the year-end audit process, including both interim and substantive testing.
  • Ensure audit-ready financials, aligning with GAAP compliance.
  • Lead the corporate monthly close process involving journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and income statement/balance sheet analysis.
  • Participate in the annual corporate budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes.
  • Aid in annual tax filings and other tax-related requirements, working alongside external advisors.
  • Equip management with vital decision-making information and conduct ad hoc analyses as required.
  • Train, develop, mentor, and retain high-caliber accounting professionals.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of ASC 842 is crucial.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ASC 805 and experience with acquisition GAAP, integrating new entities into ERP systems.
  • Experience in formulating, executing, and enforcing SOPs.
  • Proven success in building and leading high-performing teams with low turnover rates.
  • Capability to devise strategic plans and oversee their execution.
  • Strong technological proficiency, including utilizing and optimizing technology to enhance team performance.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Superior organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Active CPA license is required.
  • Experience with a Big 4 firm or equivalent audit experience is preferred.
  • 7-10+ years in public accounting and corporate accounting environments.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience leading teams of over five individuals.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intaact is advantageous.
