Business Title:

Outreach Coordinator & Tribal Liaison

Employee Type:

Admin. Professional (+) (Fixed Term)

Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

This exciting position with the Promoting Research Initiatives in Substance Use and Mental Health (PRISM) Collaborative will provide professional research collaboration and support for community-driven research, focused on improving wellness in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities across the United States. This work is part of PRISM’s Promoting Community Wellbeing Through Indigenous Science and Healing (PC-WISH) initiative as a Native Research Resource Network (NRRN) under the Native Collective Effort to Enhance Wellness (N CREW). The N CREW Program seeks to collaborate with and empower Tribes/Native American Serving Organizations (T/NASOs) to conduct their community-led research and/or improve data while increasing research capacity. Research prioritized by Native communities is essential for enhancing culturally grounded, strengths-based, effective, and sustainable intervention strategies.

The Outreach Coordinator and Tribal Liaison will play a critical role in collaborating with T/NASOs and providing support in research activities and outreach so the T/NASOs can lead community-driven research on overdose, substance use, pain, and related factors such as mental health and wellness within their communities.

This position will involve facilitating culturally grounded research efforts, enhancing local research capacities, and promoting data improvements for better health outcomes. The Outreach Coordinator and Tribal Liaison will work closely with Native communities, researchers, and PC-WISH staff to ensure the success of the program’s goals through the planning, development, and implementation of sustainable and strengths-based interventions.

The position involves traveling to communities across the United States to engage with T/NASOs and promoting available support for community-led research projects while building essential relationships. This role will offer guidance and direction to community-based investigators through comprehensive training and real-time resources, empowering T/NASOs to effectively lead their research and facilitating data improvement initiatives. Additionally, the position will facilitate coordination of resources, reporting, and cross-site activities within the network.

This role will work with tribal nations throughout the United States and may be based at a variety of locations. The Outreach Coordinator and Tribal Liaison will be assigned to work on a specific project such as NCREW or the pilot program.

This appointment will end on July 31, 2025 with the ability to extend based on project needs and funding availability.

This post may be used to fill multiple openings.
