Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled Project-Based Bookkeeper to undertake a 3-month full-time contract. This pivotal role involves collaborating with the Accounting Manager to facilitate the transition of the company’s financial records from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting, ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Your expertise in integrating data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) will be essential in maintaining the accuracy and compliance of our financial records throughout this conversion process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and rectify existing financial data in QuickBooks Online to guarantee completeness and precision prior to the accrual accounting transition.
  • Assist in the transformation of financial records from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting, ensuring full compliance with GAAP.
  • Execute necessary adjustments to the general ledger, ensuring meticulous recording of transactions under the accrual basis.
  • Reconcile vital accounts (such as bank, accounts receivable, and accounts payable) to assure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Aid the Accounting Manager in month-end close activities during the transition period, ensuring timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) using the accrual method.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the conversion process to ensure transparency and readiness for audits.
  • Ensure that all accounting practices are in alignment with GAAP while adhering to internal controls and policies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager and team members to ensure a seamless transition.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal or external audits as required during or after the conversion process.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in a bookkeeping or accounting role is essential, along with strong familiarity with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and prior experience in transitioning from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and knowledgeable in other accounting software. Familiarity with GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles is critical. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) are also required.
  • Detail-Oriented: A keen eye for detail is necessary for identifying and rectifying discrepancies in financial records.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional time management and organizational abilities are essential to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: The capability to identify challenges during the integration process and propose effective solutions is crucial.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for clear documentation and effective collaboration with team members.
