Our Client operates within the security solutions sector, offering a range of services across numerous countries, including Malta. With a large workforce, the company is renowned for its integrated security services, catering to esteemed organisations. They are collaborating with Heroix to identify a highly skilled Finance Manager to join their finance team and lead the department to ensure the financial success of the business.

Role Overview

The Finance Manager will assume responsibility for the Finance Department, overseeing its daily operations. This role is crucial in maintaining up-to-date financial records, producing accurate monthly financial reports, and assisting the leadership team with key financial decisions. The Finance Manager will be actively involved in the preparation of management accounts, reconciliations, VAT submissions, and audits, while also playing a pivotal role in identifying areas for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and accurate accounting: Maintain financial records and ensure the accuracy of all accounting processes.
  • Postings of journal entries: Manage the day-to-day accounting activities, including supplier payments and journal entries.
  • Processing supplier payments: Oversee payments to ensure timely processing and accurate financial documentation.
  • Perform reconciliations: Complete reconciliations for bank, stock, payroll, and billing activities.
  • Perform month-end closure procedures: Execute end-of-month tasks to close the books accurately and on time.
  • Preparation of management accounts: Compile financial reports to guide business decision-making.
  • Quarterly VAT computation and submission: Calculate and file VAT returns quarterly.
  • Assisting in annual financial audits: Liaise with external auditors and assist with audit processes.
  • Liaising with banks: Communicate with financial institutions for daily operations and strategic transactions.
  • Creating and updating finance procedures: Develop and refine internal finance procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to existing internal controls: Monitor compliance with established financial regulations and controls.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in financial processes: Recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Assisting the CFO in budgeting and forecasting: Provide support in financial planning and forecasting.
  • Carrying out other duties as required by the CFO: Collaborate with the CFO on various financial tasks as needed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar finance role, preferably in the security or service sectors.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Fluency in Maltese is considered an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively with all management levels, delivering financial insights clearly and concisely.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and coach junior team members.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel. Experience with Shireburn Financial Manager is considered an asset.
  • Organisation: Strong planning and organisational skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive individual who can work independently, taking initiative to drive results.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate through grey areas and propose effective solutions for complex financial issues.
