About the Equities team

Come work with our management team and enhance our portfolio management strategies. You will learn and grow with a fast-developing team. The Equities team comprises 11 people, including five general portfolio managers, five sector-based analysts and an investment analyst. The team has expertise across the Canadian, U.S. and European markets and actively manages several mandates, including large-cap, dividend, small-cap, U.S. equity, and neutral-market mandates. Job description

The Investment Analyst position is part of the Equities team. You will support the U.S. Equity Manager by generating investment ideas based on our internal quantitative tools, combining fundamental analysis of securities and frequent meetings with executives from the companies covered. You will also develop and maintain new strategies, always with the aim of helping portfolio managers outperform benchmarks. Investment ideas will be generated by ensuring the manager respects the team’s investment style. You may also be asked to manage a sector-based equity portfolio.

What you’ll do here:

  • Develop and improve Quantamental (Quantitative + Fundamental) investment strategies.
  • Design and develop investment decision support strategies.
  • Collaborate with managers on active equity management mandates.
  • Meet with managers and suggest investment alternatives for quantitative portfolio optimization. 
  • Be at the heart of decision-making by participating in lively discussions at Equities team meetings.
  • Take on stimulating special projects on various investment topics.
  • Expand your knowledge of public markets through research.
  • Eventually cover one or more sectors of the U.S. economy, make investment recommendations and manage a sector-based equity portfolio.
  • Attend meetings with sell-side analysts and management of listed companies.

Your strengths

  • You hold a master’s degree in finance or a related field.
  • You have or wish to obtain the CFA designation.
  • You have an advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • You have programming skills with VBA and/or Python (an asset).
  • You are comfortable navigating and consulting programs: Bloomberg, Capital IQ and/or ClariFI (an asset).
  • You are interested in and curious about the equity market.
  • You enjoy working with colleagues and partners.
  • You have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • You have at least one to four years of investment experience.

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
