About the Department
 

eTech is a group of friendly technology professionals and enthusiasts who act as the primary functional and technical support for multiple admissions systems at the University of Chicago. Duties also include technology operations inventory and initial triage and troubleshooting for technology aspects for users within the Office of Enrollment and Student Advancement. Most of our time is spent supporting the admissions systems, but we also handle computer inventory and deployment logistics as well as triaging and troubleshooting issues with any technical equipment in any of our three office locations on campus.


Job Summary
 

The Admissions Systems Technology Specialist will learn the ropes of working with the University's Admissions Systems (Technolutions Slate) as well as supporting the basic technology inventory and operations of the office of Enrollment and Student Advancement. This role supports the graduate and undergraduate admissions systems and technology.

Duties also include technology operations inventory and initial triage and troubleshooting for technology aspects for users within the Office of Enrollment and Student Advancement. Most of our time is spent supporting the admissions systems, but we also handle computer inventory and deployment logistics as well as triaging and troubleshooting issues with any technical equipment in any of our three office locations on campus.

The eTech team operates on a hybrid office schedule which requires one day each week in the office and the rest of the week working remotely from home. This schedule will go into effect after a brief training period of full days in the office working alongside another member of the eTech team.

Responsibilities

  • Candidates should have a high level of accuracy and comfort with using CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) systems and understanding the basics of database functionality.
  • Acts as a primary contact for system technical support questions and requests from internal University systems users and external system applicants (e.g., performing basic troubleshooting, statistical analysis, reporting, maintenance, research and upkeep using existing system functionality.)
  • Manages system data, such as duplicate record mitigation, exporting queries for mailing lists and reporting statistics, system integrity maintenance, and creating system reports.
  • Creates and maintains events and forms using delivered system functionality.
  • Creates and maintains mass email messages and campaigns using delivered system functionality and HTML, CSS, Liquid Markup coding as necessary.
  • System functionality testing and quality assurance.
  • Supports end-user training in system functionality.
  • Prepares to occasionally deal with and troubleshoot various other types of technology including PC and Mac computers, monitors, printers, scanners, installed software, and the occasional smartphone or networking question.
  • Experience with CRM systems or databases.
  • With moderate to high levels of direction from others, analyzes the users' requirements and solves routine database problems that ensures users and related applications can access necessary data sets.
  • Interprets existing data and populates the database with new data from external sources. Maintains documentation on data models, data dictionaries, physical database configuration, and daily database maintenance functions.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Understanding of CRM systems, data, databases, and good data practice.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS code.
  • Experience with the Technolutions Slate Admissions System is a plus.

Preferred Competencies

  • High level of accuracy.
