Job description

The Messaging Platform & Tooling Product Area powers and curates high-quality communications that add meaningful value to the Spotify listener. We enable 500+ message operators to reach over 1 billion Spotify listeners and creators each year via email, push or in app messages. Our unique platform enables operators to build their message and audience via our creative editing tools, order translations and then schedule the message delivery using their chosen channel. The platform is the epicenter for communication from Spotify to its listeners. The Message Experience team aims to deliver innovative messaging formats and channels that reach Spotify users at the right place, at the right time.

What You'll Do
  • Support testing and shipping innovative technology that reaches our users at the right place and time, in a sustainable way for Spotify
  • Work to deeply understand user behavior when interacting with our messaging formats and user controls
  • Work alongside other product managers in the Messaging Platform & Tooling Product Area to combine the messaging experience with a robust operator experience
  • Establish relationships with cross-functional partners — including other business units, product areas, legal, and support — ensuring feedback is prioritized and ultimately leads to a better experience for both Spotify listeners and our message operators
  • Continually refine and communicate the product strategy
  • Help to define and own team goals and objectives and key results with focus on Mission level impact
  • Engage with the engineering teams and contribute to, and lead, aspects of their agile scrum practices (ie. participation with standup, backlog grooming, sprint planning, quarterly planning and retrospectives)
  • Coordinate across product teams to ensure that relevant teams are informed about your roadmap, committed to their part in it and involved in delivery where necessary
  • Partner with User Research and Data Science to ensure the team has the right product insights and understands the needs of all its various users and partners

  • Who You Are
  • You have 4+ years Product management experience in a user-centric business
  • You have experience working in a cross-discipline agile team with a designer, data scientist and team of engineers
  • You have previously worked on a large, complex product, ideally with experience in platform product management combined with a solid understanding of user experience.
  • You are comfortable prioritizing challenging partner asks and using data and insights to drive these decisions
  • You are an excellent communicator and storyteller, and able to explain technical concepts and ideas to all types and levels of collaborators
  • You’re collaborative by nature and get energy from working in cross-functional teams and bringing people together
  • You feel comfortable working across multiple initiatives and balancing many priorities at a single point of time
  • You know how to influence decision-making in others, in a variety of contexts, with empathy and sensitivity
  • You are good at unpacking ambiguous problems and forming clarity and direction around how to solve them

  • Where You'll Be
  • This role will ideally be located in London, UK or Stockholm, Sweden
