Development Management Department

The Development Management Office (DMO) supports Design Engineering, New Site Development, Construction, Innovation, Sustainability and Project Controls teams within the Vantage Development & Engineering (D&E) global organization.

The DMO develops standards for business process, documents these standards within an automated project management framework and manages dashboard-based reporting for the Development & Engineering organization. The DMO is responsible for design, documentation and management of the business process flow coordinating the activities of D&E and other teams along the way. The DMO ensures that key stakeholders are engaged in the decision-making process to align project conditions, design goals and schedule targets to corporate goals.

The DMO works to empower each member across teams to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results.

Position Overview

This role can be remote based in any of our approved US locations.

The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, governance, and execution of data center construction and development projects across the organization. This role will lead a team of project managers and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The Director of PMO will also establish best practices, processes, and tools to optimize project performance and drive operational excellence in project management.

Essential Job Functions

Project Management Leadership:

  • Lead the Project Management Office, overseeing the execution of data center development projects from inception through commissioning and closeout.

  • Ensure alignment of project objectives with organizational goals, driving strategic initiatives that support business growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and direction to project managers and PMO staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Process Development and Standardization:

  • Develop and implement project management methodologies, tools, templates, and best practices to standardize processes across all projects.

  • Establish and maintain project governance frameworks to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

  • Lead efforts to continuously improve project management processes, increasing efficiency and effectiveness in project delivery.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Oversee the development and management of project plans, schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Monitor project performance, identifying risks and mitigation strategies, and ensuring the effective resolution of issues to minimize project disruptions.

  • Ensure proper resource allocation, working closely with internal teams such as construction, design, engineering, procurement, and finance to align project needs with available resources.

Risk Management and Quality Assurance:

  • Proactively manage project risks and issues, developing contingency plans to minimize potential disruptions to project timelines and costs.

  • Ensure quality assurance processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle, including regular audits, inspections, and compliance checks.

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of project documentation, reports, and updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including construction, engineering, operations, finance, and legal, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for executive leadership on all matters related to project management and performance.

  • Collaborate with the sales and solutions engineering teams to align customer expectations with project deliverables.

  • Help define and implement third party SOWs utilized to deliver approved projects

  • Manages third party SOWs ensuring delivery SOWs

Financial Management:

  • Manage the financial performance of all projects, ensuring accurate tracking of costs, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Lead cost-control initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost savings and ensuring project financials align with corporate goals.

  • Support the preparation of financial reports and presentations for the executive team and board of directors.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers and PMO staff, ensuring the team has the skills, tools, and resources to deliver successful projects.

  • Drive employee engagement and foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous learning and professional development.

  • Evaluate team performance and provide regular feedback to ensure alignment with organizational goals and career development.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership and key stakeholders, providing regular updates on project performance, risks, and key milestones.

  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations on project progress, financials, and risks to ensure clear communication across the organization.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years of experience managing large-scale data center or infrastructure projects.

  • Proven experience leading a project management office or similar function in the data center, construction, or real estate industry.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on risk management and issue resolution.

  • Results-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance short-term project needs with long-term business goals.

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $190,000-$210,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
