Position Overview

This is a 1099/Contract role.

The independent, verification and validation (IV&V) Project Manager (PM) will lead the assessment and monitoring of an ERP implementation project.   Overall, the IV&V PM will evaluate and assess, project goals, objectives, project management guidelines, project standards, project scope, risk identification and mitigation, quality management, project budget, reporting and documentation. The IV&V PM will confirm or assess that client staff and contracted resources are leveraged effectively across the project.  In addition the IV&V PM will review and provide feedback on project deliverables.  Finally, the IV&V PM is responsible for reviewing and reporting on the project work plan, monitoring activities of the services vendor team, timelines, and risks, and has overall responsibility for reporting on status of project activities, milestones, and deliverables

Responsibilities
  • General
    • Assess project delivery;
    • Monitor that the project is effectively resourced and manages relationships with a wide range of groups;
  • Implementation
    • Check that all required project management documents are developed, completed and signed off at the appropriate review gate;
    • Validate that all written deliverables provided by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager are stored in the appropriate network folders and archived as necessary;
    • Review and provide feedback on deliverables
    • Hold project management accountable through oversight and reporting for completing the Implementation Project on time, within scope, within budget and according to the required quality standard (with agreed specifications)
    • Audit project change request process and confirm the approval process for requests submitted by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager.
    • Monitor potential Implementation project risks, opportunities, and issues that may impact the project
    • Monitor issue resolution risk management with input from the State Project Managers
    • Report project progress, budget and status to the appropriate levels (e.g., Executive Sponsor, Executive Council, Steering Committee) and recommending corrective action when necessary
    • Review the detailed Project Plan and supporting tracking schedules on an ongoing basis and documenting noted issues and concerns with project progress in accordance with the Project Plan

Required Skillsets

  • This is a remote position based in the US with up to 50% travel
  • 10+years recent experience with managing large, complex ERP projects, SaaS preferred.
  • Ability to provide high level expertise across a broad range of business and IT related subject matter areas
  • Experience working with various IT industry standards (i.e., ITIL, COBIT, CMMI)
  • Experience managing large IT budgets
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders
  • Possesses strong analytical, organizational, team, and task management skills
  • Ability to make decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis
  • Experience with one or more of the following functional areas:  Financial Management, Purchasing or HR/Payroll/Talent Management
  • Demonstrates working knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, MS-Outlook, MS Project
Education 
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in a technical or scientific field
  • MBA or other advanced degree(s) desirable
  • PMP preferred
