Job Summary: The Software Packaging Engineer will create Windows Install packages using Advanced Installer, which will be delivered with Octopus Deploy and/or Windows Update. This individual is expected to write PowerShell scripts and/or C# libraries to support the configuration of installation packages. Responsibilities also include creating deployment rules to use with the Microsoft Custom WSUS process and Octopus Deploy.

Reporting Relationship: Director, Application Development Software

Shift: Generally, Monday through Friday 8am-5 pm CST. This position can be done in office or remotely. Regular, punctual, and predictable attendance is an essential function of every job at ScriptPro.   

Scope of the Role:

  • Create and maintain Windows Installer (MSI) packages for new/existing products.
  • Create and maintain Octopus Deploy packages and projects for both testing and production environments.
  • Create and maintain supporting documentation for packages and deployment processes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science related field or equivalent related experience
  • Experience with Windows Installer authoring tools (Advanced Installer preferred)
  • Experience with scripting languages (VB, Powershell, Batch)
  • Experience with Windows operating system administration (registry, services, permissions, users, groups, security policy)
  • Experience with software deployment/distribution technologies (WSUS, Octopus Deploy)
  • Background in software build and release tools/process (Azure DevOps, MSBuild, etc.)
  • Experience with source control (git, TFVC)
  • Entry level programming experience in C#/.NET
  • Entry level experience with internet information services (IIS)
  • Entry level experience with Microsoft SQL Server 
  • Entry level experience with Windows networking
  • Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: XML, JSON, YAML
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with little direction
  • Strong analytical skills, including a high level of attention to detail

Remote Work Requirements:

  • Must have high-speed reliable internet access with a hard-wired connection
  • Must have a distraction free home office workspace
  • Must be willing to participate in video virtual meetings (camera on)

Working Conditions:

This position operates in an office environment. Routine use of standard office equipment is required. Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, and expected to occasionally lift, stoop, bend, and reach. Ability to learn and solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions is required.
