What you’ll be doing...
You'll be in a key role, supporting payment research, posting, and automation functions. Utilizing your drive and motivation, you’ll expand your experience and develop subject matter expertise in a variety of areas across the payments and AR operations organization. You will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge of payment technologies and solutions, along with working with customers and employees as part of a dynamic and challenging Finance organization.
Act as primary lead for resolving customer escalations and payment issues.
Serve as primary point of contact for processing non trade AR payments for various stakeholders throughout Verizon, including Accounting, Real Estate, Risk Management, Tax.
Utilize various systems and subledgers to research payment postings, applications, and transfers to resolve customer AR and accounting/booking issues.
Manage unapplied cash payments to ensure that payments are booked with accuracy and in a timely manner.
Communicate across all lines of business and varying levels of management to secure posting instructions, and manage aging of unapplied cash.
Reconcile cash and AR accounts.
Implement process improvements and develop automations to reduce manual payment touches.
Develop and document process changes to improve the quality and efficiency of payment operations.
Serve as the primary liaison for external Verizon customers and stakeholders (CARE, Customer Financial Services, Payments) to reduce payment fallout through analysis of errors and improved cross functional processes.
Identify ongoing best practices for process improvement opportunities.
Work with internal and external customers to identify, report and resolve issues with payment processes.
Interface and communicate with IT teams to ensure SLAs are met.
Partner with the GTS teams to identify, design and implement enhancements in addition to driving separate issue resolution efforts.
Be responsible for developing tools and/or analyses used to interpret large volumes of transactional or other forms of data.
Serve as project lead, independently representing the team and managing projects associated with system migrations, acquisitions, sales, new vendor relationships, new payment methods.
What we’re looking for...
You're organized and detail oriented, work independently and are comfortable working with data. You possess good people skills, are inquisitive, and like to ensure all processes are working in the most effective manner possible. You demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and problem-solving skills. You’re effective at managing large quantities of data and are skilled in spreadsheet work in Excel and Google Sheets. You have a drive for automation, transformation, and process excellence.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience utilizing query tools such as SQL.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
Advanced Excel skills.
Understanding and/or working knowledge of Verizon billing and payment systems.
Experience in the payment industry.
Competent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and financial system programs.
Experience in the preparation of general ledger postings and account reconciliations.
Experience in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.
Knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as SAP, ReconNET, CPM/Essbase, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline, SQL or relevant systems and applications.
Experience in leading or participating in training and skills development initiatives as a subject matter expert.
