About the Role 

As a Senior Manager of National Field Trials you’ll partner with research and commercial teams to manage Loam’s field trial programme in North America. You’ll find success by demonstrating significant experience in field trial management, a commitment to continuous learning, and an ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders.  

Responsibilities

  • Lead our United States field trial program using microbial inoculants to increase soil carbon. 
  • Manage a small team of field specialists.
  • Collaborate with research and commercial teams to define trial objectives, develop trial protocols, identify suitable trial sites and commercial opportunities.
  • Collaborate with global trial teams to gain efficiencies through innovative assessment methods, trial designs or technologies.
  • Coordinate logistics, supervise field trial companies, troubleshoot issues, and maintain accurate records of trial activities.
  • Accurately record and collate agronomic data in appropriate data systems.
  • Interpret and present trial results, and integrate trial findings into product development strategies.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including growers, academics and contractors, to align trial objectives with Loam’s commercial strategy, foster relationships, and communicate trial progress, results, and recommendations. 
  • Work closely with external stakeholders to integrate their needs into trial planning, provide technical support and guidance, collaborate on data collection and analysis, and promote trust and transparency.
  • Manage timelines and budgets for all US field trial activities. 
  • Contribute to a productive, positive, constructive team environment and support the wider team in achieving their goals.
  • As required, taking on additional responsibilities required for Loam’s global success. 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in field trial management and/or agronomy.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in agronomy, agriculture, plant sciences, or a related field.
  • Agronomic experience in North American cropping systems and familiarity with soil health and sustainable agriculture practices.
  • Knowledge of plant growth requirements, including water requirements, plant nutrition, plant health and pest control. 
  • Meticulous in approach to executing experimental design and data collection.
  • Experience in data analysis, data management and statistical methods. 
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills to effectively plan timelines and budgets. 
  • Strong understanding of OH&S, including safety and handling of chemical and biological materials.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, for example, travel domestically to field trials to assess confidence and perform sample collection.
  • Ability to conduct sampling at field trial locations (ie, physically fit and willing to work for extended periods outdoors across all seasons).
