Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the tax function, managing the Company’s initiatives across the tax landscape, including oversight of tax operations, compliance, planning, and tax accounting. 
  • Build and execute a road map for the future of the tax organization including the identification and development of strategies to reduce any tax compliance risks or reduce the company’s taxes. 
  • Manage outside tax advisors on key strategic projects and tax planning initiatives, as required.
  • Manage foreign, federal and state income tax compliance process and liaise with external tax advisors on the following:
    • Federal, foreign and state returns
    • Reviewing federal and state income tax estimates and extensions
    • Sales and use tax returns
    • Annual filing of drug legend tax
    • Filings of indirect taxes – corporate excise, franchise, GST, etc. 
  • Maintain a working tax technical expertise in the following tax areas while keeping abreast of new or recent changes in tax legislation: 
    • Marketplace facilitator
    • Healthcare industry specific taxes including legend drug and prescription drug tax 
    • SaaS taxability
  • Manage technical research and consultation with management and the external auditors to ensure that proper tax accounting treatment is applied and documented for all transactions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the Company’s nexus analysis for updates of any business changes (new contracts, employment status, etc.) as the Company continues to grow.
  • Prepare cash tax forecast and analysis.
  • Manage the preparation and review of tax accounting in accordance with ASC 740, including the identification of uncertain tax positions, the tax provision process and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Perform tax registrations. 
  • Manage the tax aspects of intercompany transactions including intercompany agreements, transfer pricing arrangements, and withholding tax implications.
  • Maintain and streamline the monthly preparation of data to support the accurate filing of sales and use tax returns and tax collections from customers while ensuring appropriate internal controls.
  • Communicate effectively with management and cross-functionally to provide tax planning, advice and guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Bachelor of Commerce Graduate / Bachelor of Commerce Honors Graduate
  • Combination of both Big 4 and industry experience, including late stage start up experience, strongly preferrable
  • Strong 15+ years of experiences 
  • Active CPA license required
