JOB DESCRIPTION
The Reimbursement Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a team of Reimbursement Specialists or clerks focused on the collection of insurance claims for genetic testing services. The Supervisor will interact with patients, clinicians, insurers, Managed Markets, and the Billing department management to coordinate the training and coaching of staff, implementation of new procedures, and the fulfillment of departmental objectives.
Each employee’s specific job responsibilities are uniquely defined by their individual training plan and assigned duties, but are generally defined as follows:
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a team of Reimbursement Specialists or Clerks focused on the collection of insurance claims for genetic testing services.
- Interact with patients, clinicians, insurers, and the Billing Manager/Director to ensure timely collection of accounts
- Hire, develop and train qualified billing employees
- Perform annual performance reviews of direct reports and take appropriate promotion or corrective action related to staff performance
- Participate in the Quality Assurance plan
- Comply with applicable CLIA and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Supervisory experience in a medical billing and collections environment preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Be dependable, detail-oriented, professional able to build teams and motivate employees while working under pressure
- Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding, DSO reduction, accounts receivable, & HIPAA
Physical Requirements
Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
