Remote Database Designer for Business Intelligence

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Database Designer to become an integral part of our team. This role is pivotal in the design and development of databases that serve as the backbone for our essential business applications. Your primary emphasis will be on business intelligence solutions, while also engaging with other critical systems. You will closely collaborate with our DBA professionals, application developers, business analysts, and end-users to accurately assess their requirements and construct efficient, scalable databases. Additionally, you will play a key role in performance tuning and troubleshooting any database-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with DBA teams, developers, analysts, and end-users to discern needs and propose effective solutions.
• Design and implement databases, including tables, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
• Diagnose data and performance problems, offering solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Act as a liaison between the application development team and the DBA support team.
• Ensure adherence to corporate change management protocols.
• Support data integration initiatives and occasionally assist with ETL and report development.
  
  

Required Skills

• 7-10 years of practical experience in relational database development, encompassing the design of tables, views, stored procedures, and complex queries.
• 5-7 years of experience in database design/modeling for both relational and analytical systems.
• 5-7 years of expertise in developing databases within Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse environments.
• Strong proficiency in MS SQL Server database design and development.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of Software Development Lifecycles (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative, etc.).
• Familiarity with Erwin Data Modeling software.
• Knowledge of contemporary database/storage technologies such as Azure, Data Lakes, and NoSQL (a plus).
• Experience with PowerBI modeling and report writing (a plus).
• Familiarity with ETL technologies and IBM DB2 (a plus).
  
  

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of relevant experience in relational database development and design.
• Proven track record in a similar position with a focus on Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse environments.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
