Job Overview

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our thriving civil litigation team based in Southfield, MI, with the flexibility of remote work. This position will primarily involve general insurance defense cases, including but not limited to premises liability, personal injury, property damage, fire loss, and both first- and third-party automobile negligence.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare various litigation documents.
  • Investigate pertinent facts and collaborate with experts.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Manage entire case files independently while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Required Skills

To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • Strong analytical skills to address complex legal and factual issues.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy abilities.
  • Effective multitasking skills to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with a proactive approach to project ownership and teamwork.
  • Experience in federal court and alternative dispute resolution is beneficial but not mandatory.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • An active license to practice law in Michigan.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation, particularly in drafting pleadings, engaging in motion practice, managing written discovery, conducting depositions, and other litigation processes.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
