Position: Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Compliance - Remote

Join our esteemed organization as a Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Compliance, where you will play a critical role in steering our financial operations to new heights. In this leadership position, you will guide a skilled team responsible for managing diverse accounting functions, ensuring adherence to financial regulations, and overseeing the annual financial audits. Your expertise will contribute to the strategic direction of our organization and its foundation, making a meaningful impact on our financial integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all accounting operations associated with various fund types, ensuring top-tier customer service in account management.
  • Conduct thorough monthly reconciliations to guarantee precision in balance sheet reporting.
  • Oversee journal entries, accounting activities, and interdepartmental financial transactions, ensuring compliance with governmental and financial standards.
  • Manage fixed asset transactions and aid in the preparation of both internal and external financial reports.
  • Supervise tax compliance activities, guaranteeing accurate submission of annual reporting forms.
  • Lead finance training initiatives, documenting processes for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Review and authorize financial reports to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit, preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Mentor and supervise accounting personnel, conducting performance reviews and fostering professional growth.
  • Spearhead process improvement projects aimed at increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Maintain oversight of the chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy and comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years in auditing or accounting management/supervision.
  • CPA certification or a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in financial forecasting and planning is advantageous.
  • Prior management experience in a higher education context is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ERP software such as Workday is a plus.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience, with a solid understanding of GAAP, GASB, FASB, and the year-end audit process.

Required Skills

  • High proficiency in PC-based software, particularly Excel, alongside familiarity with analytical tools.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.
