Position Title

Senior Application Administrator

Salary Range

Senior Application Administrator, Sourcewell Grade 9, exempt, $71,047.09 - $99,465.92 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.

This position is responsible for maximizing application usage and performance, report creation, administration, integration, and vendor management responsibilities for assigned business application(s).

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business Application Administration
  • Establish partnerships with internal stakeholders and collaborate with IT staff to identify opportunities for improving the function and performance of application(s).
  • Develop, test, and implement advanced application functions and features to meet organization needs. (Workflows, configurations, performance improvements, etc.)
  • Perform root cause analysis on failures/problems. Coordinate and/or implement fixes and resolutions.
  • Escalate application issues and coordinate with service desk staff, application and development staff, and vendors as appropriate, to ensure timely and successful resolution.
  • Develop monitoring, metrics, reporting and analysis, to help maximize application performance.
  • Partner with application owners and IT staff to prioritize system backlogs, including enhancement opportunities.
  • Provide work estimates to assist in project and technology resource planning.
  • Perform and/or assist with testing of application upgrades, updates, integrations, and system changes.
  • Manage vendor relationships and partner with application and external support vendors to resolve issues and track adherence to contractual commitments and service level agreements.
  • Adhere to IT standards and security best practices.
  • Reporting
  • Partner with internal stakeholders in the design and development of organization reports.
  • Write SQL queries against complex database structures and to format and generate reports as requested.
  • Partner with software development staff in the design, testing, and implementation of application integrations.
  • Training
  • Develop and document technical and user training guides for application(s).
  • Develop and champion best practices and strategies to maximize application adoption and use.
  • Conduct end user training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field AND a minimum of four (4) years of experience in a combination of application administration, systems administration, systems engineering, support specialist, or related position, with at least two (2) years being in application administration.
  • OR
  • A combination of IT related post-secondary and/or professional education and demonstrated relevant work experience in a combination of application administration, systems administration, systems engineering, support specialist, or related position, with at least four (4) years being in application administration, equivalent to a total of eight (8) years.
  • Three (3) years of experience with business intelligence solutions.
  • One (1) years of experience with some of the following project management tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Smartsheets.
  • Strong business process/operational knowledge (e.g., customer service, human resources, finance)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field AND a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a combination of application administration, systems administration, systems engineering, support specialist, or related position, with at least four (4) years being in application administration.
  • Five (5) years of experience with business intelligence solutions.
  • Three (3) years of experience with some of the following project management tools: Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Smartsheets.
