We are looking for a Testing Team Lead to exceed our customers' expectations.  The successful candidate will split their time between managing and mentoring team members and working directly with our utility customers to implement cutting-edge enterprise applications.

As Testing Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in working with clients, managing people, and contributing to best practices. Your time will be split between working as a system tester, completing people management activities, and working with the other team leads to help define implementation best practices. 

People Management: Support a team of Implementation Specialists implementing CIS software
  • Define goals and objectives for direct reports that align with the overall strategic direction provided by the Implementation Manager
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress on Goals and Objectives, discuss challenges and strategies for improvement
  • Enforce quality control processes and perform regular audits to ensure following best practices and quality of work
  • Work with the Implementation Manager and other Team Leads to develop, update and maintain best practices documentation
  • Ensure people are delivering as required to meet utilization targets; Work with Project Managers and Service Delivery Management to ensure resources and tasks are assigned to the appropriate resources to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Implementation
  • Reviewing business requirements and preparing test scenarios
  • Conduct thorough manual testing of software implementations to identify bugs, defects, and inconsistencies
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts using industry-standard testing tools to streamline the testing process and improve efficiency
  • Design and develop detailed test cases based on implementation requirements and specifications
  • Ensure test cases cover all functional and non-functional aspects of the software, including edge cases and error scenarios
  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating UAT activities with end-users
  • Provide guidance and support to users during UAT sessions, ensuring that their feedback is effectively captured and addressed
  • Analyzing test results on database impacts, errors or bugs, and usability
  • Preparing reports on all aspects related to the system testing carried out and reporting to the project team
  • Assist management team in continuous improvement efforts to optimize our implementation methodologies
  • Work with development and dev-ops teams to influence, design, and validate solutions

  • Documentation
  • Assist in the creation of customer-specific testing documents
  • Document issues encountered during the testing and acceptance phases 
  • Maintain project-related documentation including issues logs, configuration guides and test cases

  • Qualifications & Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in software testing, with a focus on both manual and automated testing methodologies
  • Proficiency in using testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar would be a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of relational databases & SQL in particular

  • Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to present information clearly and concisely

  • Confidence to work independently and interpersonal skills to work as a member of internal and external teams

  • Comprehensive understanding of implementation methodologies of complex software implementations
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of utility industries - electric, water, wastewater, gas, telecommunications, sanitation, and others

  • Travel and working at client sites across North America is anticipated to be up to a 25% commitment to be successful in this position. The successful candidate must be able to travel outside of Canada with no known legal or immigration-related impediment in doing so.
