The Role

A Controller at Cymax Group is responsible for comprehensive financial reporting, including timely management and monthly financial statements, regulatory compliance, and overseeing close processes. The Controller will lead the annual OPEX budget process, ensure adherence to financial regulations, and implement internal controls. Additionally, the Controller will drive technology adoption, manage a high-performing team, and support strategic planning and project delivery. 

This role is for you if you:

  • Have solid understanding and application of IFRS
  • Have the ability to work collaboratively across the organization where adaptability is key
  • Have prior experience in a fast-paced technology or furniture company (an asset)

Who You Are:

  • Minimum 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting, including 3+ years management experience
  • Strong experience in full cycle accounting, including tax and audit 
  • CPA or equivalent designation
  • Direct formal people management experience, with the ability to lead by example and effectively mentor, motivate and coach a team.

What You’ll Do

  • Financial Reporting
    • Prepare and publish timely management reporting that provides valuable financial insight and reflects the operational results of Cymax including ownership of accounting sections of board and audit committee materials 
    • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in accordance to IFRS for external stakeholders
    • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including review of reconciliations, consolidation, working papers and journal entries
    • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting with Cymax Group’s auditors and tax specialists
    • Manage and comply with local, state/provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings across all jurisdictions in which Cymax Group operates
    • Build and implement a process for Cymax to report and record owned inventory transactions and sales 
    • Continuously improve financial reporting through development of disaggregated P&L and alignment of operational reporting systems to financial results 
  • Budget
    • Own and lead the annual OPEX budget process including the salary model (in partnership with P&C)
    • Lead the quarterly reforecast of OPEX and salaries 
    • Act as the bridge between finance and FP&A in supporting the annual financial planning process 
  • Controls and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure all accounting activities comply with financial regulations, including IFRS
    • Develop and enforce a system of internal controls over all accounting transactions
    • Review and oversee research technical accounting issues for compliance
    • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Technology
    • Continuously implement automation and best in class tools for the accounting team to support engagement and analysis
    • Ensure successful adoption of the new ERP including leading change management

Compensation

We are committed to transparency in our hiring process. The Salary Range for this role is between $130,000 and $150,000 depending on experience, skills, training and organizational needs. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. We offer a comprehensive range of benefits which includes:
