Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Azure Site Reliability Engineer to support KITS and our government customer. This is a Remote opportunity. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our cloud-based solutions hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure services, DevOps practices, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions to our customers. This is a remote position, and the ability to obtain a public trust clearance is required.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

The Azure Site Reliability Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-based solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. The core duties of this position include:

  • Designing and implementing Azure infrastructure and services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and security solutions.
  • Implementing and maintaining DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting Azure-based applications and infrastructure, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
  • Collaborating with development teams to ensure application and infrastructure alignment and provide guidance on best practices for cloud-native application development.
  • Automating deployment processes and infrastructure management tasks using Azure DevOps and other tools.
  • Implementing and maintaining security controls, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conducting performance testing, load testing, and capacity planning to ensure optimal system performance and scalability.
  • Documenting architecture designs, procedures, and configurations for knowledge-sharing and operational continuity.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Azure certification(s), such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent, is highly preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, security, and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates).
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and container orchestration on Azure.
  • Familiarity with serverless computing (e.g., Azure Functions, Logic Apps) and event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
  • Understanding of cloud cost optimization strategies and tools.
  • Experience working in a government or highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and practices.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
