Benefits Specialist

The Senior Benefits Specialist is primarily responsible for benefit plan administration, compliance, and employee questions. The ideal candidate will have robust benefit administration skills, experience with Workday benefits administration software, be able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and be able to collaborate as a part of a team.

The Benefits Specialist reports to the Benefits Supervisor or Benefits Manager.

Location: Medford, OR or Remote, USA

Compensation Range: $22/hr - $24/hr

Responsibilities

  • Administer and ensure compliance of all Benefit Plans:
    • Insurance plans (medical, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD, supplemental)
    • 401(k)
    • ESPP
    • FSA (health, dependent)
    • Commuter benefits
    • Wellness Bonus
  • Process payment of all benefit billings and ensure payments are on time and accurate.
  • Audit benefit carriers and Workday to ensure all employee changes have been accurately entered into systems
  • Review system integrations, system configuration, and reporting
  • Administer and process:
    • Disability Claims
    • Benefit Verifications & Medical Support Orders
    • Qualifying Life Events
    • Loss of Life Events
    • COBRA
    • Union Dues
  • Advise employees on eligibility, coverage, and other benefit matters.
  • Function as a liaison between employees and carriers to help resolve employee concerns

Skills and Qualifications

  • Benefit administration experience, Workday experience preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Analytical skills
  • Sense of urgency
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Time management (ability to prioritize workload and manage one’s own time)
  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships (developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others)
  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in Human Resources, Finance, or Business Administration
  • General knowledge of accounting
