Position Overview

The Assistance Controller is an integral role within the DeepSeas Finance/Accounting organization charged with supporting accounting processes while also establishing new and improving existing processes. The Assistant Controller will also be charged with helping to steward financial performance of the business, specifically in the professional services area of DeepSeas’ business. The role will report into the DeepSeas Controller with exposure to DeepSeas CFO as well as other business leaders across the organization.



Key Responsibilities

Support Controller in managing the organization’s financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, taxation, and treasury.

Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliation items with focus on running company’s revenue recognition processes

Support annual financial statement audit and tax filing

Prepare and file sales tax returns including establishment and management of integration of third-party sales tax software with the general ledger

  • Partner with Delivery organization to report on KPIs for organization including revenue (with variance MtM, YtY, vs Budget), Backlog (sold, not delivered), Gross Profit/Margin, Utilization, Headcount
  • Assist in managing / implementing financial systems with finance “lead” responsibility around Kantata (project management system)

Spearhead business insurance procurement, renewals, and on-going maintenance

Manage DeepSeas client reimbursable expense process

Ad-hoc financial analysis to support business guided by Controller

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance

Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior accounting roles (i.e. Accounting Lead, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller)

CPA Preferred. Must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to apply GAAP principles

Experience with Quickbooks, financial statements, and financial auditing

Experience working in consulting / professional services business model preferred

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
