Position Overview: We are looking for an accomplished Grant Writer with a proven track record of success in the Australian market. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to government entities, private foundations, and corporate foundations. This role requires a strategic thinker who can identify funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and effectively pitch to the right authorities to secure funding. The Grant Writer will be instrumental in ensuring that our organization has the financial resources necessary to continue our impactful work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Identification:
    • Proactively identify and research potential grant opportunities from government bodies, private foundations, and corporate foundations in Australia that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
    • Stay informed about the current landscape of available grants, with a particular focus on government grants in Australia.
  • Proven Grant Writing Success:
    • Leverage your proven experience and success in securing funding from government grants, private foundations, and corporate foundations. Provide examples of successful grant proposals that have resulted in significant funding.
    • Understand the nuances of different funding bodies and their specific criteria to tailor proposals accordingly.
  • Business Understanding:
    • Work closely with internal teams to gain a deep understanding of the organization’s mission, programs, and funding needs. Use this knowledge to create grant proposals that are aligned with both the organization’s goals and the funder’s requirements.
    • Collaborate with program managers and finance teams to ensure that proposed projects are feasible and budgets are accurate.
  • Grant Proposal Development:
    • Develop and write compelling, well-structured grant proposals, including needs assessments, project descriptions, budgets, and other necessary documentation.
    • Ensure that each proposal is customized to the specific priorities and expectations of the targeted grant authority.
    • Highlight the organization’s strengths, achievements, and impact to create a persuasive case for funding.
  • Strategic Pitching:
    • Identify and engage with the appropriate government bodies, private foundations, and corporate foundations to pitch grant proposals.
    • Build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance the likelihood of successful grant applications.
  • Submission & Follow-Up:
    • Manage the entire grant submission process, ensuring that all deadlines are met and submissions are thorough and accurate.
    • Conduct follow-ups on submitted proposals and handle any necessary revisions or additional documentation.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, foundation representatives, and corporate partners, to foster long-term funding opportunities.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related communications.
  • Reporting & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all grant activities comply with the specific requirements of funding bodies.
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to funders, demonstrating the impact of their investment.
  • Tracking & Analysis:
    • Maintain detailed records of all grant applications, submissions, and outcomes.
    • Analyze both successful and unsuccessful grant applications to refine and improve future submissions.
Required Qualifications

  • Proven success as a Grant Writer with a track record of securing significant funding from government grants, private foundations, and corporate foundations, particularly in the Australian market.
  • In-depth knowledge of the grant writing process, including research, proposal development, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian grant landscape, with the ability to stay updated on new opportunities and trends.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in grant management software and related tools.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative, remote team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the funding landscape in sectors relevant to our mission (e.g., education, healthcare, social services, community services).
  • Experience in building and maintaining long-term relationships with key funding bodies in Australia.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for government and foundation grants in Australia.
