Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage Linux environment (RHEL 7-9, Oracle Linux 7-8)
  • Provide support for virtualized and cloud-based systems (Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Install application packages, configuration files, and manage patches/upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to operating systems, hardware, and cloud services
  • Configure and maintain High Availability (HA) solutions (RedHat Cluster Server)
  • Perform system performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource utilization monitoring (CPU, memory, storage)
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for system improvements
  • Manage escalations with hardware vendors, cloud providers, and other third-party support
  • Address performance issues, handle storage additions (SAN/NAS), and perform regular system maintenance
  • Implement system hardening and security practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Manage local accounts (creation, unlocking, permissions) and secure access to servers, directories, and files
  • Provide backup support and troubleshoot backup issues
  • Assist with disaster recovery activities for both infrastructure and application tasks/duties
  • Support new infrastructure-related projects and assist with hardware tasks such as component replacement and upgrades
  • Collaborate with other infrastructure teams (Storage, Backup, Network) for change management and delivery processes
  • Manage configuration data for servers in the CMDB
  • Participate in vendor coordination for hardware and software maintenance and upgrades
  • Prepare and execute infrastructure changes following established change management protocols
  • Provide end-of-month and end-of-year assistance to application support teams
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, changes, and issues


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid experience in Linux systems administration, including RHEL and Oracle Linux
  • Experience with virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud), with a required certification in VMware
  • Knowledge of HA solutions (Sun Cluster/RedHat Cluster Server)
  • Strong understanding of incident, problem, and performance management processes
  • Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage solutions and system backup technologies
  • Experience in system hardening and compliance with security standards
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux (RHEL, Oracle Linux) and Solaris administration
  • Strong proficiency in virtualization and cloud technologies
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Ability to work in a shift support environment
  • Experience with ITIL
  • On-call support
