Position Description
Mathematica’s Accounting department is seeking intellectually-curious individuals to participate in an internship opportunity. Applicants should be interested in Mathematica's mission and our commitment to equity, and be motivated to work on Accounting/Finance efforts that advance our strategic financial goals at Mathematica.
Over a 3-6 month period with potential to last longer, The internship provides on-the-job training and the opportunity to work in a private company environment. This is a great opportunity to learn accounting hands on. The intern(s) will contribute to a variety of operational activities that support evidence-based decision-making for the company's operational strategy.
Duties Of The Internship Include
- Monthly journal entries
- Assisting with expense account analysis
- Assisting with account reconciliations
- Assisting project teams with timely responses to Service Now ticket requests to open/close charge codes
- Organizing and obtaining travel receipt information required for client invoice submission
- Maintaining and organizing Accounts Receivable email box and ensure billing staff responds to client emails
- Assisting billers with assembling monthly client invoice packages
- Auditing employee expense reports
- Some filing
- Ad hoc reporting
- SN ticket resolution
- System maintenance
- Work with payroll dept.
Position Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or master’s-level training program working towards a degree in accounting/finance
- Interest in using technology to improve the quality, efficiency, and impact of our work
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with flexibility to handle multiple tasks and work on multiple projects
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and self-directed, with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience and interest in leading and presenting to small groups
- Desire and ability to work as part of the accounting team
- Proficiency with Excel

This internship will offer 15-40 hours a week at an anticipated hourly rate of $17-$21/hour.
