Job description

We are looking for a Senior Consultant on Energy Markets and Electrification to join Grid Software’s Power Technologies International (PTI) team and provide advice for utilities, investors, project developers and other clients in the power industry and in end-use energy sectors such as transportation and heating. Our consultancy group seeks someone with experience in applying quantitative methods to support clients in energy markets forecasts, in integrated resource planning, or in projects involving electrification of end energy uses.

You’ll make an impact as you:

  • Deliver consulting services in energy markets, including forecasts of wholesale electricity prices and other market variables, and their use in assets valuation and identification of investment opportunities.
  • Conduct integrated resource planning, resource adequacy assessment, production cost modeling and other types of support to power utilities and other power sector agents.
  • Provide support to clients deploying e-mobility solutions, ranging from the roll-out of e-vehicle fleets to the creating of charging stations, and other technologies for decarbonization of end energy uses including electrification of heating and deployment of alternative fuels.
  • Support the implementation of novel quantitative methods to support various consulting engagements.
  • Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Work in project teams, ensuring quality of deliverables and completion within budget and schedule.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client relationships.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in providing quantitative support to energy markets analyses, integrated resource planning, electrification of end energy uses, or directly related fields.
  • Experience in applying quantitative methods, including optimization and statistics, to support decisions.
  • Experience working with or supporting utilities, investors, consumers, or other in power industry players.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills, and strong analytical thinking and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, notably within the U.S.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in valuation of power system assets or in advising participation in power wholesale markets.
  • Power system expansion and operation tools, such as Aurora, Promod, Plexos, or similar.
  • Experience managing consulting projects or with business development in a consulting environment.
  • Experience developing new tools and methodologies tools to support analytical work.
  • Experience in using programming (e.g., Phyton) and data management (e.g., SQL) tools.
  • Advanced degree (master’s or above) in engineering, economics, finance, or related fields
