Job description

About The Role

A cancer diagnosis can turn lives upside down. At Macmillan, we believe no one should face cancer alone. That’s why we provide a range of support services, including expert welfare benefits advice to help people cope with the financial impact of cancer. Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is proud to partner with Macmillan to deliver this essential service.

As a Macmillan Caseworker Supervisor, you’ll lead our team of dedicated advisers who provide specialist welfare benefits advice, advocacy, and representation to individuals and families impacted by cancer. You’ll work closely with the Macmillan Service manager and other supervisors, ensuring a seamless and supportive service for our clients. This is a part-time, remote position with opportunities for face-to-face support when needed.

The Main Purpose Of The Role

  • Create a supportive environment where our team feels motivated and equipped to provide exceptional service.
  • Oversee casework to ensure it meets Citizens Advice quality standards, offering technical support and expert guidance to your team on welfare benefits matters. You’ll also monitor and help develop service standards, ensuring clients receive the best possible assistance.
  • Provide specialist advice on a range of welfare benefits, advocate for clients, and represent them at tribunals when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Macmillan manager and other supervisors to ensure a seamless service. Build strong relationships with other organisations and Citizens Advice services to connect clients with additional support.

What You’ll Bring

  • You have a talent for motivating and empowering others, fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
  • You have a good understanding of the welfare benefits system and keep up-to-date with the latest changes.
  • You connect easily with people and can sensitively navigate difficult conversations with clients facing challenging circumstances.
  • You value collaboration and enjoy working alongside others to achieve shared goals.

You’re resourceful and able to find solutions to complex issues, ensuring clients receive the support they deserve.
