Job description

Our client, a provider of intelligent solutions for government and corporate decision-makers, is hiring a Director of Data Science to join their team on a full-time remote basis. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the data science strategy, driving innovation and delivering actionable insights that align with the company’s business objectives.

Responsibilities:

As the Director of Data Science, you will be responsible to develop and implement the company’s data science vision and strategy.
You will nurture a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous learning.
Lead, hire and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists, engineers and analysts.
Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of data science solutions.
Guide the team in utilizing advanced data science techniques and algorithms.
Ensure robust data governance, quality and security.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address business challenges and opportunities.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
Translate complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.
Work closely with IT, product teams and other business units to drive key initiatives.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance.
Master’s or PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
Over 10 years of experience in data science, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
Demonstrated success in leading and scaling data science teams.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based SaaS solutions, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Familiarity with systems design or direct experience in system design.
Comprehensive knowledge of data science processes, techniques, and tools.
Expertise in data governance, privacy, and security.
Strong understanding of data engineering principles.
Experience working in both small, agile teams and large organizations.
