Job description

Overview:

HarperCollins is looking for a Solutions Manager/Analyst to work on the Solutions Management Team in the IT Department. The Solutions team manages the implementation of third party/vendor and in-house systems globally across all Publishing departments including Editorial, Marketing, Contracts, Production, Sales, and Inventory. The ideal Solutions Manager will be a creative, communicative, and collaborative team member who can multi-task across projects. The role is primarily remote but will require travel to the NYC office or other locations periodically.  

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the business on gathering requirements for new system requests, existing system change requests, and/or reengineering current workflow. This includes leading discussions with business stakeholders, independently, to elicit information on the as-is and to-be state of the system or module.
  • Document functional requirements and system design in a clear and concise manner for business sign-off. This includes workflow diagrams and use cases to help the business understand current and future state.
  • Develop functional specifications with sufficient details so they can be handed off to internal or external developers, including use cases to develop work breakdown structures and traceability during the testing process.  
  • Develop understanding of system landscape and assist with roadmap planning to consolidate or expand systems where appropriate.
  • Create the project plan, agendas, meeting notes, and schedule meetings independently or with Project Management. 
  • Manage development tickets (tasks, bugs, enhancements) in IT ticket management software. 
  • Collaborate with data team on configuration, conversion, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to validate data maps, conversions and interfaces.  
  • Develop requirements to configure and implement system screens/dashboards, look-up values and translations.
  • Create test plans independently or with the QA Department, collaborate on testing and action items to remediate issues identified.   
  • Create user how to guides independently or with technical trainers. 
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and training sessions. 
  • Present status updates to upper management. 
Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years as an IT Business Analyst or Functional Analyst. 
  • Publishing experience is preferred. 
  • Microsoft Office skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel is required.  
  • Microsoft SQL Server skills with basic database knowledge and ability to write SELECT and JOIN  queries preferred.  
  • JIRA and Confluence experience preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written. 
  • Excellent collaboration skills with all project delivery team members. 
  • Someone comfortable leading meetings and delivering updates on progress, risks, issues, challenges. 
  • A creative problem solver who can envision different solutions and approaches. 
  • A person who is confident enough to make decisions and also know when to escalate and ask for guidance.  

 

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
