We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Global Trade Compliance Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our company's business practices are in line with international trade laws and regulations by performing routine activities aimed to achieve quality requirements, cost-effective supply chain and customer service.

Finally, the candidate must be a team player and working towards to create best practices and exceed individual and department goals.

Workstream description:

The Logistics and Execution (LEX) workstream is focused on optimizing the logistics department's processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce waste. This includes North American and global tasks, with the goal of improving customer satisfaction and avoiding extra costs.

You will be part of a team that includes the entire logistics department: including inbound and outbound shipments for different transportation modes (air, ocean and domestic), inventory management, customs compliance, master data, freight settlement and transportation management.

As a(n) Global Trade Compliance Analyst you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Prepare and file necessary documentation for import/export activities in all modalities (Air,FCL,LCL,FTL,LTL) including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Proformas and/or additional documents needed to apply Free Trade Agreements.
  • Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, direct clients and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and gather shipping documents.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of company's trade activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Stay up to date with changes in global trade compliance regulations and Free Trade Agreements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to implement trade compliance strategies and processes.
  • Provide training and support to company personnel on trade compliance matters when needed.
  • Liaison between external parties and internal departments.
  • Lead by providing service delivery and data quality analysis, proactive communications to clients, professional updates, and reporting.
  • Implement new ideas to promote continuous improvement culture and understand automation tools.
  • Determine and identify common quality mistakes and recommend solutions to not-so-complicated problems.
  • Work within a rapidly growing and changing organization, adapting quickly to new challenges, and contributing to the company's success.

Your Skills and Expertise 

 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Two (2+) years of equivalent work experience in Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation, in a Multinational company, Broker and/or Transportation companies.
  • Advance English level B2+
  • Working experience with SAP (ERP/TM applications).
  • System skills set including but not limited to Microsoft and SAP.
  • Knowledge about Trade Compliance requirements for Import and Export, country of origin, Incoterms, HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule).
  • Knowledge about shipping documents, country of origin, import and export classification and certificate of origin.
