Department Overview

The Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network (ORPRN) was established in 2002 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. ORPRN's mission is to improve health and equity for all Oregonians through community engaged research, education, and policy. ORPRN facilitates a broad variety of clinical health care research, quality improvement projects, and practice transformation efforts in rural Oregon, and across the state. ORPRN is committed to building and sustaining a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist organization. We do so by evaluating how we develop and support our workforce, the partnerships we uphold, and how we engage in our work throughout Oregon.

ORPRN is seeking a Senior Clinical Research Assistant to support research projects and clinical trials. General responsibilities include assisting in project activities focused on participant recruitment, enrollment, data collection and tracking per study protocols. Responsibilities also include conducting chart reviews, supporting team meetings, and supporting study dissemination activities.

Must be located in the Eastern Oregon region.

Function/Duties of Position

  • General Research Support
    • Communicate regularly with Principal Investigators, Project Managers, research staff, and research collaborators (both internal and external to ORPRN/OHSU)
    • Manage daily communication activities, monitor the central email inbox, oversee file storage, maintain supplies, compile documents for various audiences
    • Develop reports and infographics for study partners
    • Draft sections of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations
    • Conduct literature reviews
    • Foster relationships with clinics, community organizations and key partners
  • Research Coordination
    • Travel to rural primary care clinics to support study activities
    • Conduct study activities according to current research documents, resources, and processes including study protocol, standard operating procedures, and research data collection
    • Support the study timeline, communicate with teams at ORPRN and across OHSU, and support reporting to sponsors
    • Recruit participants and organizations to research studies by describing purpose, participation, and the aims of the project
    • Obtain and document participant and organizational consent
    • Conduct chart reviews and collect and manage medical releases
    • Collect data and perform data entry into databases
    • Train and lead students and junior staff in implementing study and project protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 1 year of relevant experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 3 years relevant experience OR
  • 4 years of relevant experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in in primary care healthcare settings and/or working with a research study team.
  • Experience working with underserved populations.
  • Experience securely handling confidential information.
  • Experience working within rural Oregon.
