Shermco US is hiring a I&C Technician in Albuquerque, NM.

Instrumentation & Controls Technician

This is a multi-skill role with emphasis in the industrial instrumentation & controls automation skill area. This motivated team player will possess solid knowledge of automated control systems, programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, control valves, and electrical construction in an industrial setting. This position provides vast opportunity for advancement both technically and professionally.

You will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Read, interpret, and understand P&ID’s, loop drawings, installation details, layout drawings and other drawings & documents typically associated with construction packages.
  • Read, interpret, and understand construction project specifications.
  • Coordinate between SSI field staff, other contractors and customer’s system owners to ensure all aspects of installation and testing procedures, means and methods have been identified and agreed to.
  • Act as liaison and technical resource for management, field personnel and subcontractors, as necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting and resolution of issues associated with instrumentation, control valves, process controllers, PLC hardware and control systems.
  • Coordinate repair, testing, and installation of control panels, PLC’s, I/O modules and communications equipment.
  • Mechanical and Electrical installation of control panels and instrumentation.
  • Field wiring of control panels and instrumentation
  • Installation, calibration, and commissioning of pressure, flow, level, temperature and analytical instruments.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year Associates degree in Automation & Controls, Instrumentation, or similar technical program highly preferred.
  • ISA CCST certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years industrial electrical and controls experience
  • Thorough understanding of computers, MS Office, basic networking
  • Electrical understanding of motor controls, VFD’s, control loops, pneumatic/hydraulic theory, industrial networking, relay logic and analog & digital signal loop theory.
  • Basic understanding of Rockwell Automation Logix5000, RSLinx and similar software.
  • Self-motivated individual – able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team oriented, flexible and willing to assist in other technical disciplines.
  • High level understanding of field instruments, electronic test equipment, control valves, control panels, .
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, ladders, manlifts, etc...
