The Tribal Program supports tribes in asserting control over their energy resources and focuses on making project implementation feasible by leveraging state and federal programs, philanthropic dollars, and partnerships with other tribes across Indian County while working in alignment to identify, develop, finance and implement solar power projects that meet community needs, including education, hands-on training, and energy cost reductions for tribal members.

The Opportunity…

The Tribal Construction Administrative Coordinator position is located in Denver, CO and reports to the Deputy Director of the National Tribal Program. This position is remote and manages the administrative and daily operations of the Tribal Construction Program and supports additional activities for the National Tribal Program for the implementation of energy access work across Indian Country.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and coordinate staff travel for projects, fundraising, presentations, etc. which includes reserving flights, car rentals, and hotels/rental properties, site-specific policy, travel form
  • Manage calendaring system to coordinate with the Tribal Department’s production and program schedules and related travel and meetings.
  • Assist with posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and sending offer letters for approval.
  • Coordinate the full process for hiring staff at the direction of the supervisors and managers, which includes communicating with People and Culture Department (Human Resources), managing process in Paycor, coordinating & communicating with potential candidates and scheduling interviews.
  • Assist in the onboarding process for new hires, including introduction to tribal processes and remain Tribal point of contact for onboarding process
  • Assist with payroll processing by collecting and verifying timekeeping information for stipend employees.
  • Submit weekly employee per diem, mileage, and stipend payroll to Accounting for payment.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee questions about payroll (i.e. per diem, mileage, etc).
  • Ensure compliance with company policies (i.e. make sure employees are acknowledging and signing any policy updates).
  • Administer EID initiatives and projects aimed at improving employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Set up multi-participant video conferencing calls and take meeting notes for project-specific meetings, and other GRID-related meetings.
  • Support the Tribal Department’s Executive Directors, Directors and managers responsibilities, including but limited to assisting with communications, reports, people management, and special projects.
  • Support the Tribal Construction Team with required documentation, logistics, scheduling, organization, and data entry.
  • Provide office management support related to building issues, IT support, work vehicles, purchasing office supplies; onboarding new staff, and greeting visitors
  • Use software systems such as Salesforce, Inspire, Concur, haystack, Paycom and Paycom Manager, Adobe, G-suite, etc. in order to help track, sign, manage projects, information and documents.
  • Provide policy and development support to the Tribal Department in research, develop databases, track and respond to inquiries.

  • Minimum two years of administrative or fundraising experience, preferably in non-profit or equivalent experience in sales, marketing, or communications work
  • Prior experience working with non-profit organizations
  • Previous experience living and/or working in developing countries and with rural communities preferred .
  • Experience handling logistics for projects and fundraising events


Where you will sit & the places you may go...

Based in Denver, CO, the Tribal Construction Administrative Coordinator will support Tribal Program staff on all aspects of the solar PV installation and projects. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, but applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Availability to work nights and weekends may rarely be required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($22-$24), plus the benefits below.
