Job description

About the role

As the Commercial Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in providing financial reporting, commercial analysis, and data-driven decision support. You will be responsible to enhance operational effectiveness and profitability through detailed cost and variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and KPI development.

What you’ll do

  • Provide in-depth commercial analysis to support operational activities and drive profitability.

  • Develop detailed volumetric-based financial and cost forecasts.

  • Produce timely and actionable management and business performance reports.

  • Deliver relevant and timely commercial insights to optimize the network and maximize value, focusing on both direct and indirect costs.

  • Conduct P&L reporting and analysis, including internal recharge calculations.

  • Lead strategic and operational budgeting processes, owning financial targets at the P&L level.

  • Support strategic budgeting (multi-year) and shorter planning horizons for operational budgeting / forecasting, driving ownership of financial targets at a P&L owner level.

  • Track business performance trends, including review of any under-performance with relevant stakeholders.

  • Key business partner to executive stakeholders for operational performance and investment outcomes.

  • Collaborate with operations, risk, and finance teams to enhance control measures.

  • Preparation of financial modelling to solve supply chain problems and support the optimisation of operations.

  • Ensure KPI reports are produced and are relevant and accurate.

  • Prepare profitability and ad hoc business analysis, including identification of earnings enhancement initiatives.

What you’ll bring

  • Completed Bachelor of Economics or Commerce with Finance/Accounting focus.

  • CA/CPA Registration.

  • 5+ years in commercial finance with decision support

  • Cost management, driver-based analysis (volume metrics)

  • Advanced Excel modelling skills including data queries and ability to manipulate large volumes of data.

  • System experience with Planning, Analytical and visualisation tools (previous experience with SQL queries, TM1, Power Bi would be advantageous)

  • Strategic Thinking: Apply strong commercial insight and strategic capabilities with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Ability to collaborate and influence a diverse group of stakeholders – working toward the common goal of optimising the network and driving value for the company
