Job description

ABOUT KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission to deliver a free, world-class education to anyone anywhere. Our proven learning platform offers free, high-quality supplemental learning resources that cover Pre-K-12th grade and early college core academic subjects, with a focus on math and science. We have over 155 million registered learners globally and are committed to improving learning outcomes for students around the world, with a focus on learners in historically under-resourced communities.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our students, teachers, and parents come from all walks of life, and so do we. Our team includes people from academia, traditional/non-traditional education, big tech companies, and tiny startups. We hire great people from diverse backgrounds and experiences because it makes our company stronger. We value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as necessary to achieve our mission and impact the communities we serve. We know that transforming education starts in-house with learning about ourselves and our colleagues. We strive to be world-class in investing in our people and commit to developing you as a professional.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Quality Engineer at Khan Academy, you will ensure the quality and reliability of our web-based products used by schools and learners to improve educational outcomes. You will engage in both manual testing and test automation, developing and maintaining automated tests to detect regressions while also performing comprehensive manual testing of new features. Working within a cross-functional product development team, you will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and support teams to advocate for exceptional user experiences through all stages of the product design and development lifecycle. Your strong communication skills, keen eye, creativity, and experience in automated test development at all levels (frontend, backend, white box, and black box) will be key to your success in this role.

You will:

  • Own manual test plan development and execution for new features on the team.
  • Build and maintain new test automation to fill coverage gaps using insights from manual testing, stakeholder priorities, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners throughout the SDLC, including planning, design reviews, and development discussions to ensure quality is considered from the beginning.
  • Use your creativity and extensive knowledge of testing tools and frameworks to find, document, and track bugs.
  • Contribute to engineering guilds such as the Quality and Accessibility guilds, and participate in organizational affinity groups to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment
