Job Overview

We are looking for a committed Loan Accounting Manager to join our esteemed organization remotely. This pivotal role entails managing precise financial documentation and reporting for our mortgage loan portfolio. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will ensure the reconciliation of funding operations, the preparation of financial reports, and effective communication with external auditors. Your proficiency will be instrumental in enhancing financial accuracy and reporting efficiency, thereby propelling our organization’s growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
  • Supervise the work of external loan accounting firms to guarantee quality and accuracy.
  • Reconcile cash movements and financial transactions associated with loan funding activities and investment funds.
  • Collaborate with fund accounting teams to monitor cash allocations across multiple funds.
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and maintaining transparency in reporting.
  • Review and approve journal entries related to funding adjustments, ensuring accurate recording in the general ledger.
  • Monitor and analyze discrepancies in cash reconciliation, addressing issues promptly.
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports, including liquidity forecasts, balance sheets, and P&L analyses, to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure precise cash flow reporting and loan accounting.
  • Support special projects tied to financial reporting, process improvements, and audit preparation.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical skills to promptly resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with various departments and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and accountability in all tasks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Capability to evaluate and recommend enhancements to accounting processes and tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial reporting and accounting, specifically with a focus on mortgage loan accounting.
  • Knowledge of private credit or investment funds is advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and audit practices.
  • Experience with residential mortgage loans (originations, purchasing, and funding) and financial audits.
