The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Responsibilities:

Location: Global Role (Preferred location: Europe)

Work Arrangement: Ideally, the candidate will be located within a commutable distance to one of our Morgan Advanced Materials sites, but we are open to discussing flexible arrangements. 

Reports to: Global Application Manager - Fire Protection

Travel: Up to 50% travel to support our global projects and partnerships.

Job Purpose:
The Fire Protection Applications Manager will lead the design, development, and certification of Fire Protection systems. You will provide expert technical support, collaborate with internal teams and customers, manage certification portfolios, and ensure all solutions meet industry standards and ethical practices. This role is key in advancing fire protection technology and making a real difference in critical industries.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Support and Solutions Development:

    • Partner with sales teams to design and develop cutting-edge fire protection systems.
    • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Work closely with customers to engineer customized fire protection solutions, utilizing FEA modeling to adapt designs to specific site needs.
  2. Ethics and Professional Standards:

    • Deliver high-quality technical reports and solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and Morgan’s ethical values.
    • Manage and safeguard the integrity of the fire test and certification portfolio.
  3. Certification and Testing Management:

    • Collaborate with certification bodies, providing technical data and supporting the approval of designs.
    • Oversee the certification process, ensuring timely renewals and adherence to global standards.
    • Liaise with finance on project budgets and purchase orders related to certification activities.
  4. Fire Testing Program:

    • Support and oversee fire testing programs, including the coordination of technical drawings, material logistics, and sample installation.
    • Analyze test results, addressing technical challenges and ensuring optimal performance of products.
  5. Technical Analysis and Reporting:

    • Provide in-depth analysis of fire test outcomes and offer expert advice to clients on product application.
    • Present technical insights to various stakeholders through reports, training programs, and conferences.
  6. Team Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:

    • Support the technical development of the global Fire Protection team, ensuring expertise is shared across regions.
    • Facilitate knowledge transfer to enhance fire protection competencies across the organization.
  7. Market and Strategic Insight:

    • Stay informed of market trends and competitive developments, providing strategic insights that drive technical innovation.
    • Contribute to strategic planning by identifying technical opportunities aligned with market needs.
  8. Sales and Marketing Support:

    • Serve as a technical advisor at key meetings, conferences, and customer events, enhancing Morgan’s position as a market leader.
    • Represent the company in standards development committees and interact with certification authorities.
  9. Logistics and Planning:

    • Support logistics planning for local and global fire testing, ensuring all certification records are up to date and accessible.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering (or a related field).
  • Passion for the fire protection industry and its systems, with a strong drive to make a meaningful impact in safety and innovation.
  • Hands-on approach, comfortable with practical applications, and eager to directly engage with fire protection systems.
  • Proven experience in third-party certification and successful collaboration with external agencies, particularly within Marine applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring strict adherence to procedures and certification requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to effectively translate technical insights for diverse audiences and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset, with a commitment to fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.

Desired Qualifications / Experience

  • Fire Protection qualification (e.g., Level 3 IFE or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with FEA tools such as ANSYS or COMSOL is an advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire test standards and regulatory codes across key industries and regions.
  • Practical experience with fire protection products, systems, and their applications, including providing onsite training for applicators.
