Job Overview

We are in search of a seasoned PostgreSQL Database Administrator to become an integral part of our dynamic team. In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for identifying, strategizing, developing, and implementing database applications and technological solutions across various locations and business units. You will serve as the primary liaison for database administration as well as escalations pertinent to our banking industry projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage PostgreSQL databases requiring a robust background of 10-12 years, with a minimum of 5 years on cloud platforms, ideally AWS. This encompasses the administration of AWS RDS services, user authentication, IAM, and security protocols.
  • Install, configure, patch, migrate, maintain, and upgrade open-source database platforms such as PostgreSQL and AWS RDS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement efficient and sustainable database coding practices.
  • Optimize PostgreSQL SQL performance through strategic indexing and effective database partitioning.
  • Engage with high-performance data concepts such as message queuing and full-text indexing.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing AWS environments while utilizing various tools to enhance performance and security.
  • Oversee PostgreSQL migration strategies, including technical management and estimation.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of Linux OS for remote system connections via SSH.
  • Write high-quality database code while ensuring data integrity, privacy, and security.
  • Utilize tools and technologies such as Jira, GitHub, Ansible, and Terraform, and possess familiarity with CI/CD processes using GitLab.
  • Apply principles of database design, including query optimization, index management, and integrity checks.
  • Utilize strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills to effectively identify and resolve issues, particularly in client-facing scenarios.

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience with AWS RDS.
  • Expertise in capacity planning and performance evaluation for AWS RDS.
  • Strong administration experience in PostgreSQL and SQL Server within production settings.
  • Proficiency in configuring and supporting complex RDS databases in an AWS environment, ensuring high availability and resilient solutions.
  • Practical experience in monitoring database performance and familiarity with reporting tools.
  • Experience in utilizing Performance Insights and designing/managing RDS KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of AWS Lambda and Python.
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL administration and associated tools such as PgBouncer, PgPool, and other relevant binaries.

Qualifications

  • 10-12 years of database management experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Strong expertise in database design principles and performance optimization.
  • Proven experience in configuring complex RDS databases with high availability solutions.
