Job Overview

As a Subject Matter Expert within the School of Mental Health, you will be pivotal in shaping our online course offerings. Utilizing your extensive knowledge, you will develop pertinent course materials and foster engaging educational experiences for our students. This collaborative role involves working closely with the dean and/or Program Director, with dedicated instructional design support from our expert team. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of education provided to future mental health professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert insights in mental health topics relevant to course content.
• Craft meaningful learning experiences and create engaging course materials.
• Develop instructional modules that effectively guide students through their academic paths.
• Author original content and assessments that align with established course objectives and standards, including CACREP.
• For each weekly module:
• Create PowerPoint presentations with voiceover recordings.
• Design relevant homework assignments.
• Develop interactive discussion board prompts to promote deep engagement.
• Formulate instructional plans for live weekly sessions.
• Construct assessments along with detailed instructions/rubrics.
• Identify supportive resources and reading materials.
• Enrich content with practical experiences through anecdotes and case studies.
• Collaborate on timelines for deliverables and ensure adherence to deadlines.
• Participate in regular discussions with supervisors and peers to enhance course content.
• Conduct final reviews of the course to ensure academic integrity and alignment with objectives.
  

Required Skills

• Deep passion and expertise in the subject area.
• Experience with online teaching and clinical practice.
• Proven capability in course curriculum design and assessment.
• Strong communication skills with knowledge of APA guidelines.
• Familiarity with online teaching platforms, particularly Canvas, is advantageous.
• Innovative teaching methods and strategies.
• Ability to engage and inspire students with a positive attitude and sense of humor.
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling; a doctorate is highly preferred.
• Degree from a CACREP-accredited program is preferred.
• Experience in counseling practice is highly preferred.
