LJB Engineering is a national, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with four main practices: Water/Civil, Transportation, Buildings Structure Design and Safety/Fall Protection Design/Installation. Our diverse expertise, client base, and geographies have enabled LJB to serve clients in all 50 U.S. states and several countries.
We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer within our Water/Civil practice to support our rail services, as well as other public and private clients across the United States. This position can be fully remote or fully/hybrid in-office at one of our existing office locations. The position does require the ability/willingness to perform short-term (typically 2-4 days per month) travel to project sites.
The ideal candidate will have progressive experience and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact to our firm and the clients we serve. Specific responsibilities, requirements, and competencies are outlined below.
Pay: 98,000 – 120,000
SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Hydrologic analysis of many diverse flood, climatic, and meteorological conditions across the United States.
- Open channel 1D and 2D hydraulic analysis/modeling using steady and unsteady modeling.
- Hydraulic design of drainage structures.
- Preparation of engineering study reports and preliminary design concepts.
- Coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Client and Project Management
- Short-term travel to complete field work involving hydraulic surveys.
- Other duties as assigned.
SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Education:
- Master’s degree preferred in civil engineering with an emphasis in water resources or a related field.
- PE is required.
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate will have 6–12 years of relevant experience. However, candidates outside of that range that meet core requirements may be considered.
- Skill and experience in water resources engineering, specifically hydrology and hydraulic analyses utilizing various methods and software including HEC-HMS and two-dimensional HEC-RAS models.
- Willingness and ability of travel and field work, including periodic 4-day trips to project sites and surveying in variable outdoor conditions is required.
- Railroad industry experience is preferred.
- Skill and experience utilizing mapping and CAD drafting software including ArcGIS and MicroStation is preferred.
- CFM Certification with a working knowledge of utilizing FEMA regulatory models to obtain floodplain permits is a plus.
- Experience with USACE Nationwide Permits and how they may impact the identification of replacement bridges and culverts is a plus.
