Hiring Unit:
School of Physical & Occupational Therapy

Position Summary:

As co-Chairs (Dr. Majnemer/Dr. Menon), we will benefit from assistance with various tasks related to development of a new OT curriculum that aligns with the updated Competencies for Occupational Therapists in Canada. The duties and responsibilities for this position are outlined below.

Will assist with the following tasks: collecting and summarizing data on other Canadian OT programs, collating relevant evidence from curriculum renewal/development guidelines, creating forms for focus groups/surveys and synthesizing data collected, planning meetings and facilitating its related communication, taking minutes and preparing meeting documents. The work study student will also assist with curriculum mapping tasks and generating reports using Atlas software (e.g. entering, reviewing, and maintaining course-related data and follow-up with course instructors)


Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Must be work-study approved
  • ​Excellent written communication skills for emails, letters and report writing.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to clearly and effectively receive, retain and share information at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task in a team-oriented and fast-paced office environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support for various administrative activities and maintain electronic filing systems.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, problem-solve in area of responsibility and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Precise attention to detail.
  • Strong information literacy skills (i.e., ability to define research terms, search online databases, journals, websites, websites, amalgamate information, and critically evaluate resources).
  • Candidates with professional training in healthcare-related field (especially Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy) and/or experience in Education (pedagogy; curriculum) will be prioritized given the nature of the tasks involved.
  • Bilingual in French and English (written; oral) is an asset

Other Qualifying skills and/or abilities:

  • To be eligible for this job, you must have access to a computer and high-speed internet, webcam and microphone, and work from home office space.
  • Must be willing to learn new software (e.g. Atlas mapping software).
  • Must be available to work on campus, if necessary.
  • Must be able to work in local time zone (Eastern Standard Time).
  • Familiarity with web conferencing technology (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.)

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
