Job description

Title: Contract Writer, Snowboarder.com

Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract

Location: Remote USA


First Look:


The Arena Group is seeking a niche outdoors-loving, snowboard-obsessed contract writer with excellent writing skills and online know-how to join Snowboarder.com. If hired, you will be responsible for producing a mix of quick-turnaround, 350-word articles and longer-form more evergreen assignments on a daily basis, which will be assigned each morning.


The Arena Group’s expected hourly rate for this position is $25 USD per hour. Please note: due to the volume of applications we receive, only applicants selected for consideration will be contacted.


What You’ll Do:

  • Write multiple short, quick-turnaround articles on topics related to snowboarding

  • Search the social media channels of key players in the niche industry to find potential sources of content

  • Help to curate content for Snowboarder's Instagram and social media pages

  • Search for and choose appropriate photos for each article

  • Pitch ideas for articles to editors on a daily, ongoing basis

  • Work with our Evergreen Editor on longer-form evergreen articles

  • Keep the editorial calendar updated with the status of your assignments  

  • Accept and apply feedback from editors to improve the quality of articles



What You’ll Bring


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the outdoor adventure/snow sports space

  • At least 1-2 years of writing experience, preferably in a news capacity (required)

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the niche culture of snowboarding 

  • First-hand experience and participation as a snowboarder 

  • Vast knowledge of the key players in the snowboarding community

  • A genuine interest in outdoor adventure/snow sports as a whole
