JOB OVERVIEW

Lead the strategy for one of the product lines of business and integrates assigned products into a coherent portfolio that is focused on the market. Product Managers own their product line or strategic initiative, educate internal teams about the market and personas and develop new ideas based on industry experience, knowledge, contact with customers and prospects, and secondary research. As a primary responsibility, and in addition to the responsibilities and duties listed below, the Director of Product Management is ultimately responsible for all go-to-market activities and is expected to work closely with all relevant departments (Sales, Client Experience, Marketing, Engineering, and others) to ensure the success of the product.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Manages activities of a team that are moderately complex to complex. Develops and directs work schedules and monitors workflow to achieve established goals and objectives.
  • Discover product problems in the market by interviewing clients, recent evaluators, and untapped, potential clients to inform the product roadmap
  • Validate market/client problems and build business cases with targeted audience, projected costs, risks, revenue and adoption, to support informed investment decisions and buy, build or partner recommendations
  • Develop and maintain all pricing models, schedules, guidelines, and procedures
  • Write and maintain a product plan that informs the product roadmap
  • Develop a product roadmap with consideration of the product lifecycle phase and Net Health product portfolio; communicate progress at regular intervals to internal and external stakeholders
  • Own Net Health client advisory group; set agendas, secure speakers and facilitate sessions, collect, summarize and present feedback
  • Lead the definition of user personas
  • Establish release milestones with Product Specialists and the PMO in support of the product roadmap; adjust as required to meet business and operational needs
  • Serve as the advocate for the product with clients, prospects, the market, and the industry when making roadmap prioritization decisions
  • Manage the product roadmap to ensure it is updated on a regular basis and reflects current state; measure results and adapt timelines as necessary
  • Collaborate with the Product/Solution Specialist and development teams to ensure alignment in demos with market problems and needs
  • Participate in change control and other product-related meetings as needed
  • Inform the budget to support the product plan and roadmap
  • Support win-loss analysis by understanding why recent evaluators of the product did or did not buy, and what steps they took in the buying process, in collaboration with product marketing
  • Contribute to product launch and collateral as a subject matter expert
  • Support trade shows, advertising, webinars, and conferences related to product
  • Work closely with Product Marketing to ensure on upcoming roadmap or launch activities that require their collaboration or contribution
  • Support the Sales and Client Experience teams as needed with product and subject matter expertise for prospect and client activities
  • Perform product intelligence activities to:
    • Understand market and competitive dynamics
    • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of client business and operational processes
    • Maintain an understanding of healthcare and regulatory trends as they impact the products/product line
    • Build a knowledge base of competitive products and trends with product marketing utilizing tribal knowledge and market research
    • Identify and assess the strengths and weakness of competitive and alternative offerings in the market, and collaborate with product marketing to develop a strategy for winning against competition
  • Collaborate with other team members to leverage integrated product vendor relationships
  • Create and deliver thoughtful information (for example webinars, blogs, e-books, etc.) to influence clients, buyers, industry specialists, research analysts, key editors in the press, and other third parties

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Education – bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, engineering, computer science, or healthcare-related discipline. Master’s degree is desirable.
  • 7+ years’ experience working with healthcare information technology, electronic medical records, patient workflow or healthcare software generally, with at least five years in a product focused role
  • Strong leadership and technical skills, entrepreneurial in nature
  • Effective research and personal networking skills
  • Keeps commitments, meets deadlines, and completes assignments within the allotted timeframe
  • Well-honed writing skills, tactful verbal/interpersonal communication abilities, and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Ability to translate problems into understandable requirements
  • Ability to self-manage with some direction
  • Ability to drive consensus across groups and resolve conflict
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

REQUIRED SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE

  • Subject matter expert (SME); project leadership and negotiating skills; budget management; SaaS solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Electronic medical records and analytics solutions, preferred
  • Proficiency with ProductBoard, Pendo, AskNicely, preferred
