Job Description

The Accounting Research Manager is responsible for technical accounting research, interpretation and implementation of new and existing accounting pronouncements as well as identifying and managing workflow for the Research team to ensure key issues are completed in a timely and accurate manner. This individual is responsible for development and documentation surrounding proposed accounting policies and significant accounting transactions. This individual must be able to quickly synthesize complex accounting issues, make decisions and finalize conclusions in a timely manner to appropriately apply accounting and reporting requirements while striving for optimal results for the Company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support delivery of guidance and advisory services to stakeholders in connection with the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), international financial reporting standards (IFRS), and statutory accounting principles
  • Prepare, gain consensus and conclude on accounting position papers to support accounting policy development or specific transaction conclusions, driving and leading discussion across key stakeholders
  • Monitor development of accounting standards proposed by various standard setters (i.e., Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC))
  • Review new and proposed accounting standards and assess potential impacts to operational/reporting processes as well as financial results
  • Disseminate information regarding proposed and issued accounting and reporting standards and related interpretations including potential impacts to the business areas and shared services
  • Prepare presentations for senior management, business unit management, and the Audit Committee regarding matters on accounting standards developments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to identify areas of risk, implement efficient solutions and improve workflow velocity

Education

• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Required)

Experience

• 7 or more years of experience (Preferred)

• Public accounting experience (Required)

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $95,700.00 - 170,925.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
