Join a pioneering renewable energy organization dedicated to the advancement and implementation of large-scale energy storage solutions. With robust backing from private equity and a proven track record of over 9 GW of completed projects, our company is positioned as a leader in the renewable energy landscape, currently on a trajectory of significant expansion.

As the Director of Energy Storage Asset Operations & Maintenance (O&M), you will be instrumental in defining the operational approach for assets within our growing Asset Management Division. This leadership role involves steering the field-focused O&M strategy, emphasizing warranty management, fleet oversight, commissioning, and rigorous testing across operational assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage field-based O&M activities for utility-scale battery storage assets across ISO/RTOs nationwide, ensuring optimal project performance and revenue maximization.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive operations and maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures that align with power trading hedging strategies across day-ahead and real-time markets.
  • Drive asset optimization efforts through strategic assessments of equipment, hardware, and software in partnership with IT and OT teams.
  • Spearhead operational troubleshooting initiatives aimed at enhancing project performance through system and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party contractors and vendors to maximize production efficiency while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness.
  • Partner with executive-level stakeholders on asset O&M aspects, including compliance with OSHA, NERC, risk management, and P&L reporting to enhance operational effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership skills in operations and maintenance management.
  • Extensive knowledge of utility-scale energy storage systems.
  • Familiarity with energy trading and optimization methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing and improving operational performance.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management capabilities.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of experience in O&M within the renewable energy sector, including leadership roles. Experience in energy storage can substitute for degree credentials.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership positions related to operational asset management.
  • Highly desirable experience with energy storage technologies, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and related O&M providers and OEM manufacturers.
  • Proven ability to lead compliance initiatives for OSHA, ISO/RTO, and NERC standards.

Career Growth Opportunities

This role offers a significant opportunity to collaborate with a talented Asset Management and Energy Trading Team dedicated to driving innovative energy trading and optimization initiatives. Your contributions will be vital to expanding a nationwide utility-scale renewable energy portfolio, fostering both professional growth and networking opportunities within a dynamic industry.
