Responsabilités

  • Tarification des risques complexes de la réassurance facultative, selon les directives de tarification de RGA
  • Compréhension approfondie des techniques de tarification médicale et financière, et maintien à jour des connaissances sur les tendances et progrès de l’industrie
  • Capacité d’appliquer adéquatement ses connaissances techniques aux dossiers les plus complexes
  • Excellente connaissance des concepts de vente à valeur nette élevée et de leur application dans le marché, et capacité à les enseigner aux autres
  • Soutien auprès des clients et mise à profit des connaissances techniques avancé
  • Démontre une capacité à travailler de manière productive dans un environnement sous haute pression et à gérer efficacement et de manière proactive les situations difficiles
  • Capacité de travailler de façon autonome sur les dossiers les plus complexes, dans la limite de ses pouvoirs d’approbation
  • Coapprobation des dossiers des tarificateurs juniors, et offre d’encadrement, de formation et de mentorat
  • Soutien actif auprès de la gestion en formulant des commentaires, en participant à la formation, en dirigeant les discussions d’équipe, en participant aux projets et en contribuant positivement à la résolution des problèmes techniques et de ceux des clients
  • Collaboration avec les autres services de RGA pour échanger des connaissances et soutenir les projets axés sur les clients, au besoin
  • Participation aux activités organisées par RGA et l’industrie, et entretien des relations avec les principaux clients

Exigences

  • Diplôme d’études collégiales ou universitaires, ou expérience de travail équivalente
  • 11+ ans d’expérience en tarification directe ou en tarification de réassurance,tarification de dossiers à valeur nette élevée et en tarification d’affaires complexes
  • Aptitudes éprouvées pour la sélection des risques aggravés et complexes, la tarification d’affaires importantes et l’application de concepts de vente évolués
  • Titre professionnel de FLMI ou de FALU ou autre titre pertinent reconnu par l’industrie, ou en processus avancé
  • Bilinguisme français/anglais (l’oral comme à l’écrit) est requis compte tenu de la nécessité de communiquer oralement et par écrit avec une clientèle majoritairement anglophone basée à l'extérieur du Québec.
  • Plusieurs lignes d’affaire (vie, assurance-invalidité, maladie grave) un atout

Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, the Sr Underwriting Consultant assumes responsibility for the risk selection in order to meet departmental objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrites complex facultative underwriting risks, according to RGA underwriting guidelines
  • Possesses a superior understanding of both medical and financial underwriting techniques, and stays current on related industry trends and advancements
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to the most complex case work
  • Has a solid understanding of high net worth sales concepts and their application in the market, and can teach this to others
  • Provides advanced technical expertise and support to client companies
  • Demonstrates an ability to work productively in high pressure environment and effectively and proactively manage challenging situations
  • Acts independently on the most complicated cases, within specified authority
  • Co-signs cases from more junior underwriters and provides guidance, training and mentoring
  • Actively supports the department management by providing input, assisting in training, leading team discussions, participating in projects, and being a positive contributor to the resolution of technical or client issues
  • Liaises with other RGA departments to share knowledge and assist with client projects, as necessary
  • Participates in RGA events and industry activities & fosters relationships with key clients

Qualifications

  • College diploma or University degree or equivalent working experience
  • 11+ years of experience in direct or reinsurance underwriting, working in High Net Worth and large case underwriting
  • Proven track record in risk selection with complex substandard cases, large case underwriting, and application of advanced sales concepts.
  • FLMI or FALU designations, or significant progress towards obtaining these or other related industry designations
  • Bilingual French/English (oral and written) is required given the need to communicate orally and in writing with a predominantly English-speaking clientele based outside of Quebec.
  • Multiple lines of business ((Life, DI, CI) an asset

Compensation Range

$86,445.00 - $108,055.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
