Job description

The Oregon State Communications Specialist will assist the Oregon Communications Manager in the development and execution of the communications plan supporting the Oregon Recycling Modernization Act.   This position will assist in raising awareness of CAA’s work and EPR implementation in Oregon through development and execution of marketing campaigns designed to educate the residents of Oregon on changes to the recycling system. This includes implementing and monitoring marketing campaigns, assisting with transcreation and digital distribution of marketing materials, developing and executing webinars and educational programming, providing social media support, and tracking key performance indicators of campaigns.

Our ideal candidate is process-driven with a keen eye for detail. You must have strong writing, editing, and research skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle multiple projects is a must. You should have a solid understanding of communications practices and digital marketing strategies. Candidates with prior experience in a Communications role will be given preference.

Key Deliverables for the Role:

Communications and Marketing:

  • Assist with the development and execution of the company’s marketing strategies and marketing materials
  • Ensure consistency in brand tonality and layout for marketing collaterals through tailored messaging and design
  • Suggest methods to enhance outreach campaigns by tracking media exposure and analyzing industry trends
  • Provide administrative support by coordinating internal communications, maintaining and updating stakeholder engagement
  • Assist the Oregon Communications Manager with organizing digital events, webinars, and other promotional activities
  • Assist with development of internal communications, including presentations
  • Support the analytics team with collecting campaign data and preparing reports that help drive optimization efforts
  • Report social media campaign reach and coverage by monitoring engagement across various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Coordinating the development and dissemination of regular newsletters
  • Tracking of deadlines and deliverables 
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years of experience in communications, ideally working in an agency or in-house role responsible for outreach to a broad stakeholder audience.  
  • Exceptional writing skills and experience writing for a variety of formats, including email, presentations, reports, websites, and media materials. 
  • Strong grasp of social media analytics and media monitoring
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) 
  • Knowledge of photo editing software (Photoshop, Canva, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of CRM systems (preferably Salesforce.com or Monday.com)
  • Resides in Oregon
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Compensation and Other Information:

  • Location:  Must reside in the State of Oregon, initially work from home.
  • Targeted base salary is $60,000 - $70,000 based on a variety of factors in accordance with applicable law, including the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.  In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance, retirement and paid time off.
