Time Frame: Summer 2025
Work Location: Remote, Hybrid, or In-Person (Madison, WI)

Positions: 2-3 interns
 

Audience: This role is for students who will graduate in December 2026 or after. 

We have a second Actuarial Internship position for older students who graduate in December 2025 or May 2026. It is called our Emerging Professional Program - Actuarial Internship. Please do not apply to both.
 

Early Development Program (EDP)
An internship path focused on delivering a meaningful experience designed to enhance students ’ skills. With access to hands-on experience, mentorship, development sessions/workshops, and more, this pathway cultivates future talent exploring their career interests.  It is most appropriate for freshmen and sophomores.

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an analytical individual with a demonstrated understanding of actuarial and statistical concepts. The Actuarial Intern will be an active member of a team and do meaningful work to help the company further its mission of creating a brighter financial future for everyone. Work may be part of a larger project with multiple contributors or individually driven. In this internship, you will gain exposure to a corporate environment and have access to senior leadership. Attention to detail, willingness to learn from mistakes, and clear communication are necessary to succeed in this internship. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supporting property & casualty, life, annuity, retirement, or health practice areas
  • Creating and running actuarial programs on PolySystems, GGY Axis, ResQ, Triton, Python, or R
  • Maintaining and enhancing spreadsheets
  • Visualizing data on Power BI or Excel
  • Performing experience studies to set reasonable actuarial assumptions
  • Calculating interest rates and dividends
  • Pricing, reserving, or modeling
  • Making recommendations
  • Presenting and explaining your work to others

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards a relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn

Preferred Experience:

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Risk Management & Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field
  • Passed 1 or more SOA or CAS actuarial exams (but not required)
  • Prior internship experience (but not required)

Base Salary Range:

$24.00 - $32.00
